<image:caption>After years of using sutures in the Interlocking technique that weren’t quite right, we set out to develop a suture specifically designed for the technique. Based on actual surgical experience, we have configured a suture of the optimum material, size and needle to yield the best results for the interlocking technique.</image:caption>

<image:caption>SurgiGlide is more than a suture. We are focused on developing the tools and techniques that create the best results for patients. As part of this mission, we have partnered with Dr. Hammond to create a detailed set of instructional videos that demonstrate the use of SurgiGlide in the interlocking technique.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About SurgiGlide - Suture Requirements</image:title>
<image:caption>For best results, the suture material must be extremely pliable and easily slide through the dermis without catching or breaking. The needle must efficiently and accurately pass through the dermal shelf around the defect. Lastly, the suture must be thin to create a knot small enough to be buried under the dermal flap.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About SurgiGlide - Purse String Technique</image:title>
<image:caption>Unfortunately, even in these cases, the areola can stretch over the purse-string, again resulting in a wide and disproportionate areola. As well, the purse-string suture can often be seen and palpated along the inner rim of the areola.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About SurgiGlide - Interlocking Periareolar Technique</image:title>
<image:caption>To address these concerns, the interlocking technique was developed. By incorporating evenly spaced “bites” of the suture along the areolar margin, the peri-areolar and areolar incisions are locked together. Final closure then creates a stable construct that holds the areola in position, allowing a controlled size and shape to be created.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About SurgiGlide - SurgiGlide</image:title>
<image:caption>Every component of the Surgiglide suture was developed for the Interlocking Periareolar Technique. By deeply understanding the technique, we are able to develop a custom tool that best serves surgeons and yields the best results for our patients.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About SurgiGlide - Peri-Areolar Defects</image:title>
<image:caption>For years, peri-areolar surgery has been plagued by the propensity for the areola to spread post-operatively, sometimes to alarming dimensions. One potential solution to this problem has historically been the use of a purse-string suture placed in an attempt to stabilize the peri-areolar opening.</image:caption>
